Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday carried out a spicy attack on the country’s army and asked for “neutral” – the term he used for military establishment – and said “History will blame them for what they do to the country.”

“I want to ask neutral today, do you know where the country is going?” The local media outlet The Dawn quoted Khan said. “How can the country and the economy develop when you don’t even know what will happen in the next 2-3 months,” Imran Khan, who heads the PTI party, said further.

Imran Khan created the term ‘neutral’ after the army said he would not interfere in politics when he was overthrown as prime minister through voting without trust in April. “No matter how many times you call yourself neutral, history will blame you for what you do with the country,” he said, signaling the lack of army support for him during his transfer. Former Pak Pak also warned the Army to “review their policies” while there was still time. “You must review and think that there are 220 million people in this country … More than 60 percent of the population are children, and they need work,” he said as quoted by local media.

The Chairperson of PTI also accused that the effort was made to disqualify him and destroy his party. Khan’s latest statement came a day after he said Pakistan “went down to the Banana Republic” in the middle of the arrest of Pakistani Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill on charges of incitement. He also called the arrest of Gill as a conspiracy to target him, and all leaders in his party.

Shehbaz Gill, an aide near Imran Khan, was arrested last week in Islamabad for allegedly making a controversial statement against Pakistani troops on private TV channels, local media outlets Geonews reported. He was finally ordered on charges of incitement and inciteable members of state institutions against the Pakistani army.
