NPPA Fixes, Retail Prices of 84 Drug Formulations

NPPA drug determination regulator has improved retail prices for 84 drug formulations, including those used for the treatment of diabetes, headaches and high blood pressure. The National Pharmacy Price Authority (NPPA) has also set a formulation price indicated to reduce increased cholesterol and triglyceride levels, among others.
In exercising the power given by drugs (price control), 2013, NPPA has improved the retail price of drugs, the regulator said in a notification. According to the order, one Voglibose tablet and (SR) metformin hydrochloride will cost Rs 10.47, not including GST. Likewise, the price of paracetamol and caffeine has been determined in RS 2.88 per tablet. In addition, the price of one capsule of Rosuvastatin Aspirin and Clopidogrel has been determined in RS 13.91.
In a separate notification, NPPA said that it had extended the price of the liquid medical oxygen revision ceiling and oxygen inhalation (drug gas) until 30 September this year. NPPA is given a mandate to improve/revise the price of drugs and the formulation of bulk controlled and enforce the price and availability of drugs in the country. It also monitors the price of drugs that are decided to maintain it at a reasonable level. The regulator implements and enforces drug provisions (price control). This is also entrusted with the task of restoring excessive amounts by producers for controlled drugs.
