Xiaomi and Leica write the latest chapter of smartphone camera chronicles

Smartphone cameras are a serious business. Behind all the megapixels, there must be substance. More often than not, it is the key to tilting assistance or against, once the buyer is ready with a credit card. And always helps to have an established name in the photography room adding weight to what might be claimed by a smartphone maker. That’s not new. Which said, Xiaomi had just written the latest chapter, announcing that they would work with Leica, a famous brand in the photography room. This partnership will lead to the production of new flagship mobile phones in July – it’s a little more than a month – which is described as the “First Flands Smartphone of the First Imaging”. That’s a big call, whatever the way you see it, and give it it will not be easy. Xiaomi and Leica must attract something very special from the bag, this one. A glimpse of its potential rival takes us to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (which has a 108 megapixel camera) and OnePlus 10 Pro (Hasselblad’s direction always helps). Globally, there is also a Sony smartphone line-up, which also uses Zeiss optics.
What exactly will focus on partnerships, for the camera? The potential spectrum has a wide potential. “During cooperation, from optical designs to tuning aesthetic orientation, innovative technology, product philosophy and imaging preferences both parties have experienced a deep collision and fusion that has never happened before,” said Lei Jun, founder, Chair and CEO of Xiaomi Group. Theoretically, Leica can give xiaomi critical pieces of jigsaw, including color adjustments, algorithms for image processing and maybe additional photography modes as well.
Will the mainstay coming to become Xiaomi 12 Ultra? Even before the Xiaomi factor in the competition, there was a significant generation step to compete.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra-MI branding is no longer part of the Xiaomi-Mobile phone setting three cameras (50 megapixels + 48-megapixel + 48-megapixel) and is generally one of the best camera phones in its day. The new phone will join the Xiaomi 12 Series, the mainstay is the Xiaomi 12 Pro, which has a 50-Megapixel triple camera configuration.
Who else did what Xiaomi now wanted to achieve with Leica? OnePlus is the most vocal example of a camera phone that is made better with the help of a camera company – Hasselblad is the person referred to here. They have worked on the OnePlus series 9 years ago, and OnePlus 10 Pro this year (the benefits can be debated, but X-Pan photography mode is a definite bonus). Larger brand synergy means Oppo also takes advantage of this partnership.
The trend that was started by Nokia years ago (they cannot be credited enough for something that was followed up by telephone makers today), and that with Carl Zeiss, a brand that now works with Sony and Vivo for their smartphones. At the same time, Samsung has done everything at home, including the Proral mode owned by a new cellphone. And this, you could say, the best camera phone in the Android smartphone – and they, year to year, with each mainstay series of Galaxy S. So far, Xiaomi has done the same thing, with a fairly consistent effect. Those are the two sides of the same coin, without a clear winner.
It should also be noted that camera performance, for photos and videos and additional features such as HDR processing, better night photos and video frame rates, also depending on the increase brought by the chipset from time to time. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chip, for example, has an underlying improvement from the previous generation, Snapdragon 888 chip. It provides software, AI and layers of features, a better foundation to be done.
