UAE bans travel for unvaccinated citizens, booster dose required for vaccinated

The UAE will allow trips for medically excluded individuals from taking the Covid-19 vaccine, humanitarian cases, and those traveling for medical purposes and maintenance.

The United Arab Emirates announced a travel ban on its citizens who were not vaccinated against Coronavirus (Covid-19), starting January 10, January 10, then needed to get a booster dose according to the Covid Country Protocol.

The Arabs will allow the journey for medically excluded individuals from taking Covid-19 vaccines, humanitarian cases, and those traveling for medical and maintenance purposes.

“The prohibition on traveling on UAE residents was not vaccinated with the # Covid19 vaccine, starting January 10, 2022, with the requirements to get a dose of booster to be fully vaccinated,” NCEMA official handle posted on Twitter. “With the exception to be excluded medically from taking vaccines, humanity & treatment.”

The prohibition of travel was announced amid sharp gains in the Covid-19 case, driven by a very contagious Omicron variant, in the United States and Europe. The surge in Covid-19 cases and inpatients, with a new variant of concern that caused a breakthrough infection, has also led to cancellations of hundreds of flights around the world.

On Saturday, the UAE reported 2,556 fresh Covid-19 cases in the previous 24 hours, taking a cumulative infection to 764,493, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention. The ministry reported one mortality related to the virus, took the country’s death at the age of 2,165.

Earlier this week, HT reported that the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to UAE in January was postponed because of fears of the rapid spread of the Omicron variant in the country. Although no official announcement regarding the visit was made by one of the two countries, it was expected that PM Modi would be in the UAE on January 5-6.
