Lack of vitamin B12 does not only potentially cause anemia, it can damage the nervous system. And for young children, B12 is very important for brain development.

“The lack of B12 is one of the most ignored problems out there when it comes to malnutrition. And unfortunately, we can see that the food assistance we provide today is not in accordance with the task, “said Henrik Friis, the first author of research and a professor at the Department of Nutrition, Sports and Sports at Copenhagen University.

The result, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, shows a strong correlation between vitamin B12 deficiency and poor motor development and anemia.
